Tyler and Shawn at Pacific German are my new local go-to guys for performance mods! I look forward to giving them a big project soon!

1 check-in I decided to get a second estimate to repair my Passat station wagon. Previously, I went to my general mechanic and they said I needed a new manifold and oxygen sensor totaling over $1200. I found Pacific German on Yelp and decided to give the specialist a try. I have been hesitant in the past of car maker specialist because I figured a specialist was more expensive, kinda of like a personal doctor. However, happy to report that Pacific German diagnosed to replace a PCV valve and that the cost was only $350! I took a risk of the cost of the overall inspection but it was well worth it. Service was quick, and they advised me of things I might need to replace in the future ( my car does have 125k miles on it). Shawn was cool, not super friendly but he was crazy busy and I can live with that if he is sincere and saving me money.

I started taking my car here in 2012. This week, my anti-roll bars failed, they handled business, the car handles great; I'm in love with my car again. If you need services or repairs, I bet you'll be happy you took your car here rather than the dealer. The essence of modification of a tuner car is an attempt to extract the greatest possible performance 'and/or' the appearance of high performance--from the base motor vehicle through the addition, alteration or outright replacement of parts. This may involve modifying the engine and management systems of the vehicle to increase the power output, additional changes are often required to allow the vehicle to handle this power, including stiffened suspension, widened tires, better brakes, improved steering and transmission modifications such as the installation of a short shifter. Although largely invisible from outside the vehicle, certain modifications such as low profile tires, altered suspension, and the addition of spoilers can change the overall appearance of the car. I am a VW Diesel Enthusiast. From the conceptualization phase (in my case - a daily driver), Shawn and Tyler were involved in planning and design phases of the modifications for SAFETY, optimal performance, fuel efficiency, through completion of the project at a fair price. Shawn and Tyler are professionals and I trust my sleeper with them. A sleeper refers to what appears to be an ordinary looking stock commuter car that is anything but stock under the hood. It is pretty much the exact opposite of your everyday 'sedan.' I'm part of a large community of VW enthusiasts, I've found that Pacific German consistently offers me a fair deal, hard to find parts, and sound technical advice. Not all tuners have the passion and expertise working with VW and Audi's; Shawn and Tyler's team get the job done right the first time. Read more

I used these guys for a service for my 2012 GLI for $50k miles instead of going to the dealership as I had before. They were a heck of a lot cheaper and a lot quicker as well. I was able to wait in the evening while they finished the work. Recently I had my check engine light come on. I called and they urged me to come in soon, giving me a couple different ideas of what it could be. I dropped by after work and Shawn did the diagnostic right in the parking lot and told me exactly what the issue was. He said it was the Intake Manifold and it would be covered under my VW extended warranty, and recommended I see a dealership to get it replaced. When I called the dealership and told them the situation, they said they would be happy to take a look but they would need to charge me a $100 diagnostic fee, that I would have to pay for if the part wasn't covered and I decided not to get the work done there. On one hand I get it, but on the other hand this was a task Shawn did for me in under 3 minutes at no charge. When getting the part replaced the dealership recommend that I get the intake valves and ports cleaned out, because it should be done eventually and it is much easier to be done when the manifold is already being replaced. The dealership quoted me $560. I called Shawn to find out if this was something he recommended and if it was a fair price. The answer was a yes to getting it done but was a emphatic no on whether I was getting a fair price. Shawn said they would charge less than that to do the job including removing the manifold, which the dealer didn't have to do because it was already being replaced. He told me he would only charge a couple hundred bucks on the labor for the cleaning. Shawn armed me with some talking points and I was able to get the cost with the dealership down to $360. Shawn went above and beyond where it mattered, much appreciated.

I use yelp regularly for checking out a place, but am guilty of not leaving reviews. However, after visiting Pacific German a few times, I felt compelled to leave one. I purchased a used Audi S5 and knew it had some issues (thus I was able to get a great deal). I wanted to find a competent mechanic, and was referred to Shawn by my long time mechanic (my mechanic I had always used only specialized in Japanese cars). Well, Shawn was able to diagnose my cars issues, and found a few more. In each experience I felt he was thorough in his explanation, very knowledgable, and I wasn't upsold. Overall, I'm very happy with the service I get at Pacific German and will continue to be a loyal customer as long as I own an Audi.

Wow, awesome. I wish I lived in Cali because I have a 1987 VW Scirocco and I wish Sean from PG could be my mechanic. I had a problem replacing my clutch and info and mechanics that know old VW's are hard to find. I knew about Pacific German from some VW blogs I belong to. I looked them up and called and to my SURPRISE even though I live in New York and will never be a customer because of the distance, they went out of their way to help me. They helped me pin point the problem over the telephone and then even emailed me the part numbers to order AND sent detailed instillation instructions. This just does not happen often. I've been ripped off left and right in the past. If you have a VW and need service you know you can trust these guys because they helped me even thug they knew they were not going to make a penny off of me. Nice to know there are still people like this in the world.

I had a great experience with my 2013 VW GTI here. Cat-back Exhaust, lowering, and spacers last year. Now I'm finally headed back for the big boy tune and the downpipe next week. I highly recommend Pacific German. The Setterstrom boys will set you up right, they do everything above board, and they just want you to love your car.

Every time I get work done at Pacific German, its done right the first time. Their attention to detail and hard work really shows. As long as I own a german vehicle, Pacific German will be the only ones who do work on it. Hands down, the best shop in Orange County.
