My wife and I brought our 2001 VW Jetta which I use as transportation to and from work for a check engine light diagnostic. This car led a rough life during it's 12 years although maintenance was performed regularly. Although the car is starting to "fall apart", we decided that if repairs were reasonable we would continue to drive the car and not buy a new one. The manager or owner was kind enough to run a diagnostic for free while we waited! This was super cool of him. Most shops charge at least $40+ dollars for this quick service. Unfortunately, being an early 2000 VW Jetta, this car was plagued with so many problems we decided repairs were not worth it. Now to the funny (but true) reason why I did not give a full 5 stars in my review. Being the avid competitor I am, I challenged the owner/manager to a simple race. My Nissan GTR vs his nice but slower Audi RS5. He declined and said "I will probably take you anyways" LOL This my friend is a challenge. If you are a true German auto enthusiast I am curious why you backed down from a race against my Nissan? Beware of the Black GTR that roams the Lake Forest streets-you may get burned :) Update: I wanted to make sure my humor and 4 stars didn't affect the overall rating of this business. The service I received was indeed 5 stars. -Owner is still not willing to race. :( As usual, the reputation of the mighty GTR scares away another competitor. :) Comment from Shawn S. of Pacific German Business Owner 9/5/2013So, if I raced I would have received 5 stars? By kidding around I said it would win, but declined the invitation becuse I'd rather not endanger someones life. Ill take the 4! Read more

3 photos 2 check-ins I don't know how to start when reviewing this place. But let's first get started on what I got done here. I have a 2008 Audi TT MK2 3.2L and It needed its 65,000 mile service. I love my car and I have been taking it to the dealer every check up because the previous owner paid for the Audi Care. This shop is pretty much the dealer but with cheaper prices and better service. I took it in, after making a appointment and came out in 1 1/2 hours. Within the 1 1/2 hours, they inspected the car, changed the oil, added a ECU performance upgrade, and removed a code for my spoiler. I could have been more happy. They are expects and they know what they are doing. My second experience here was different. I had my headlight upgrade to the TT RS version and I brought them here to get coded. Everything was done within 1 hour and I was good to go. Overall thoughts: Would I do basic things here? Probably not, because I live kind of far away. But would I do thing that will be done right the first time? Yes, they are experts in Audi and I love their mindset. If I ever need a upgrade such as adding turbos or getting new coilovers into my car, I would call Pacific German first.

I've been going to Pacific German for about a year now and have received nothing but excellent service. They always keep the customer in the loop as to what is going on, and know their Audi's and VW's inside out. They did my brakes and suspension on my 2012 GTI as well as some other things. Even though I still have a dealership warranty, I prefer them to do the work on my car because of the quality and experience I get dealing with them.

PG is the place to go for VW/Audi repair and service. They are very knowledgeable. Have all the same tools as the factory techs for a fraction of the cost. They worked with me on what started out as a big job with lots of small addons to make it very affordable and a fast repair. Major props. Will be going back as long as I own VWs!

Absolutely, 100%, without a dought the BEST there is. Shawn has been my mechanic for over 15 years..through 6 cars and has ALWAYS kept my cars running in TOP shape. Yes, He WILL find the issue..no matter how big or small. No games, no gimmicks. He is a PURE service professional and enthusiast who really enjoys what he does. His son Tyler never ceases to amaze me with his attention to detail and automotive knowledge. NO ONE touches my German cars but Pacific German....NO ONE!!!

Unequivocally THE BEST shop in the OC ... Shawn and crew do such tedious, PHENOMENAL work, and their attention to detail is unmatched. I always feel not only am I getting the BEST, thorough work done -- but done HONESTLY. No games, no BS, no price jacking. As long as I have a german vehicle, PACIFIC GERMAN gets my loyalty. Awesome, awesome shop!!!

This is the third time I've been to Pacific German (all unrelated of course). The service has been timely, fair and logical. So many places, when I speak the mechanic, don't seen to know what they are talking about, however, Shawn always has a reasonable, logical explanation for what's going on. Aside from that, his pricing is fair and he gets the job done quickly. There's a reason I drive 30-45 minutes to get to Pacific German and will continue to do so for any issues I have.

Just picked my car up today and I can say with total certainty that I am a truly satisfied customer!! I've been coming to Pacific German a little over a year and a half now. I have a 1998 VW Cabrio which I bought used over 2 years ago. Shawn and his boys have kept that car running strong most likely past what it would have had I not come upon his shop. My car even runs better than when I bought it 2 years ago probably at a level comparable to a car half as old. Also did I mention the speedometer is about to hit 200 thousand miles..... I've been through tons of mechanics in the past, honestly a lot of shady work was done on my car without my knowledge I am sure. The first time we brought the car here, before even getting it on the rack, Shawn already had a list of things I needed to fix immediately (nothing you ever want to hear)....I believe he mentioned unless they were fixed the car would be an accident waiting to happen and was deemed "undriveable" by Shawn. Each time I have gotten my car worked on here (everything from new water pumps, belts, engine mounting or even just an oil change) I have noticed a dramatic yet positive effect on the the cars performance on the drive home. He really has a magical touch with cars along with his sons who are all very knowledgeable and skilled mechanics. He also really takes the time to educate you about your car, what and why he is fixing a part...he even shows you the damage. Unlike other places he doesn't use cheap parts, which although they might cost more it really doesn't match up to the quality and life of the parts he repairs (a lot if my old/original parts in the car were replaced) I'm not going to say its cheap...but he is pretty cost effective when you compare him to other mechanics, doing the same repairs (I have looked up estimated costs multiple times online and at other shops), and for the quality of work he does. I highly recommend German Pacific to anyone with a German made car. It is a drive...but it's been worth it. My car is still running strong and I know with Shawn's help its not leaving me anytime soon. :)
